Modern English Rock Garden

Beaches, ON

The owner of this property wanted to evoke the charm of an old English rock garden. Any existing plant material that suited the desired aesthetic was carefully salvaged and set aside. The beds were then cleared of weeds, and the soil was tilled and amended. The salvaged plants were thoughtfully incorporated into the new design alongside 'Creeping' ajuga, 'Dark Side of the Moon' astilbe, 'Blue Rug' juniper, 'Compact Golden' barberry, 'Fuchsia is Bright' coneflower, 'Pink Panther' coral bell, 'Rozanne' cranesbill, heather, hens & chicks, lamb's ears, 'Super Blue' lavender, 'Raspberry Splash' lungwort, 'Sonoma Opal' peony (ITOH), 'Drummond's Pink' phlox, Russian sage, 'Angelina' sedum, sweet woodruff, and woolly thyme. The result is a timeless, textured landscape that blends vibrant color, delicate foliage, and rugged charm—bringing the vision of a classic rock garden to life.
