Hidden Treasures

SCARBOROUGH, ON

Overgrown and full of weeds, both the front and back garden beds at this property no longer brought the homeowners the joy they once did. The first phase of the makeover involved clearing weeds, hard-pruning existing shrubs, culling overgrown perennials, and replenishing the soil. During this process, several hidden treasures—garden statues—were uncovered and thoughtfully incorporated into the new design.

The second phase focused on evaluating which plants could be repurposed and selecting new ones suited to the space’s mix of full-sun and part-sun exposures. The new additions included Pink Dynamo hydrangea, Baltic ivy, Sugar Tip Gold hibiscus, coral bells, cranesbill, stonecrop, and Russian sage.

The result is a revitalized garden that harmonizes structure, texture, and colour, once again bringing the homeowners joy in their outdoor space.
