Upon completion of the hardscape phase by Stonehenge Design Build, I was tasked with designing the softscape component of this backyard makeover. With a ravine as a backdrop, and multiple tree canopies casting shade on the backyard, the challenge was choosing plant material tolerant of part sun to part shade conditions, while still providing beautiful colour, contrast, texture, and seasonal interest. Installed plant material included a dwarf Japanese maple, a dwarf Hinoki False Cypress standard, Nova Japanese yews, azaleas, Japanese forest grass, Solomon's Seal, Japanese pieris, coral bell, Canadian anemone, Northern Sea Oats, and Sweet Woodruff. The result: a beautiful and relaxing backyard escape!
